Ocean Creek Golf Club, designed by
PGA Champion Davis Love III and Paul Cowley was opened in 1995. Incorporating
sweeping views of salt water marshes, fresh water lagoons, lush jungle
vegetation and four distinctive rolling dune ridges, this beautiful course is
6,643 total yards and a par 71.
The signature 6th and 7th holes are
situated on the "Old House Creek" and marsh, which Jacques Cousteau called "one
of the most pristine salt-water marsh habitats in the world". Five holes are
edged by marsh, while another six incorporate interior wetlands, preserved and
connected to the course through a network of wooden walkways and bridges.
You may want to pack your camera in your golf bag, as the course is
home to a wondrous variety of wildlife including egrets, osprey, herons, and
deer. You may even catch a glimpse of a few alligators patrolling the lagoons
or basking in the sun! The landscape is so wonderful, in fact, that it
attracted movie producers to film scenes from Forrest Gump and Disney’s
live action version of The Jungle Book.
"The Creek" features five sets
of tees including the Wee-Links tees that make the course enjoyable for all
skill levels and a fair challenge to the advanced player. The wide fairways and
large greens offer enticing targets, but stray shots beware! No matter what the
score, you are sure to enjoy this gem that was named as one of the 10 Best New
Courses in America by Golf Digest upon opening, and recently received a 4.5
Star rating from the same publication.
Ocean Point Golf Links is Fripp
Island Resort’s original home of golf. This oceanfront prize opened in
1964, and was designed by George Cobb - the talented design consultant for
Augusta National and several other courses that have hosted Major
Championships. Mr. Cobb produced a seaside masterpiece for us to enjoy here at
Fripp Island!
Recognized by Corporate Meetings & Incentives as a
Golden Links Award Winner, Ocean Point has received a 4 STAR rating by Golf
Digest. The traditional links-style par 72 layout is found on the northern most
point of Fripp Island and features several holes that are situated directly on
the Atlantic Ocean and the Fripp Inlet. The majestic views on the 9th, 10th,
14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th, holes will rival any in golf.
Ocean Point
features five sets of tees that include our Wee-Links tees. This allows for
players of all skill levels to enjoy this breathtaking course.
"The
Point" features well-bunkered, small greens that place a premium on accurate
iron play. But since Mr. Cobb knew that the wind would be a factor on this
seaside course, he afforded the players a chance to run the ball onto the
